Brain Fog (Forgetfulness)

jiànwàng · Brain Fog (Forgetfulness)wellness

Overview

Brain fog, or forgetfulness, refers to reduced memory, slow thinking, and poor concentration, often accompanied by dizziness, fatigue, and insomnia. In TCM, the disease is located in the brain and closely related to the heart, spleen, kidney, and liver. It is commonly caused by excessive thinking, overwork damaging the spleen, or chronic kidney essence deficiency, or phlegm-turbidity and blood stasis obstructing the clear orifices. Common patterns include heart-spleen deficiency, kidney essence insufficiency, phlegm-turbidity obstructing the orifices, and blood stasis blocking the collaterals.

When to seek medical care

If forgetfulness suddenly worsens with slurred speech, limb numbness, unsteady gait, or severe headache and vomiting, seek medical attention immediately to rule out stroke and other emergencies.
