💊 Actions

Induces sweating to release the exterior, unblocks yang and disperses cold, and resolves toxin and nodules. Used for mild wind-cold exterior patterns (aversion to cold with mild fever, headache, nasal congestion), yang-collapse signs with cold limbs and a faint pulse, inhibited urination, and sores; also applied externally.

Contraindications

Warm and diaphoretic; avoid in exterior deficiency with spontaneous sweating, strong exterior heat, or stomach-fire halitosis. Do not decoct for long.

📖 Usage & Dosage

Decoct 3-10 g (3-9 white stalks), added near the end; for external use, apply the mashed herb, hot compress, or a decoction wash as appropriate.
