Clears heat and transforms phlegm, moistens the lung and stops cough, disperses clumps and resolves abscesses. Used for lung-heat dry cough and yin-deficiency consumptive cough, and for breast and lung abscesses and scrofula. Chuan Bei Mu leans toward moistening, Zhe Bei Mu toward clearing heat and dispersing clumps. Incompatible with aconite (Wu Tou).
