翼者，辅也，以翼千金。

Yì zhě, fǔ yě, yǐ yì qiān jīn.
English Translation
Human life is of supreme weight, worth more than a thousand pieces of gold. To relieve it with a single formula is a virtue exceeding that. So I have gathered widely from the classics, pruned the redundant and kept the essential for urgent use, naming it the Thousand-Gold Wings.

Sun Simiao's Tang sequel to the Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold. Following his creed that human life outweighs a thousand gold, he gathered and distilled the classics for ready use.
