1.九針十二原第一
黃帝問於歧伯曰︰余子萬民，養百姓，而收租稅。余哀其不給，而屬有疾病。余欲勿使被毒藥，無用砭石，欲以微鍼通其經脈，調其血氣，榮其逆順出入之會。令可傳於後世，必明為之法，令終而不滅，久而不絕，易用難忘，為之經紀。異其章，別其表裏，為之終始。令各有形，先立鍼經，願聞其情。
Huangdi asked Qibo, saying: I regard the myriad people as my children, I nourish the hundred clans and collect taxes and levies from them. I grieve that they are not sufficiently provided for, and moreover are afflicted with diseases. I wish not to have them take toxic medicines, nor to use stone needles; I wish to use fine needles to free their meridians and vessels, regulate their blood and qi, and nourish the meeting points of their counterflow and smooth flow, exit and entry. So that this may be transmitted to later generations, I must clearly establish its methods, so that it endures to the end without being lost, and lasts long without being cut off, easy to use and hard to forget, and make a framework of rules for it. Let the chapters be distinguished, the exterior and interior differentiated, and a beginning and end established for it. Let each have its form; first establish the Zhenjing (Needle Classic). I wish to hear its particulars.
