Original
衷中参西，乃医学之新途。
Translation
Medicine takes saving life as its aim, and there should be no boundary between Chinese and Western in the physician's breast. Integrate Chinese and Western, learn from each other's strengths, and take practical efficacy as the standard — this is the correct path of medicine.
📝 Commentary
Zhang Xichun's late-Qing work integrating Chinese and Western medicine. It declares that medicine aims only at saving life and should combine the strengths of both traditions, judged by practical effect.
