血在上则善忘，血在下则口渴。
Pinyin
Xuè zài shàng zé shàn wàng, xuè zài xià zé kǒu kě.
English Translation
Blood patterns mean that the blood does not follow the channels. Blood and qi are differently named but of the same kind. To treat the blood one must first treat the qi: when qi flows smoothly the blood returns of itself to the channels.

Tang Rongchuan's Qing monograph on blood disorders. Its guiding principle: blood disease is blood failing to follow the channels; treat the qi first and the blood settles.
