治病必先明脏腑，别阴阳，识标本。
Pinyin
Zhì bìng bì xiān míng zàng fǔ, bié yīn yáng, shí biāo běn.
English Translation
To treat disease one must understand yin and yang, cold and heat, root and branch, urgency and slack. The zang and fu have deficiency and excess; medicinal natures have cold, heat, warm and cool. Know what is fitting and do not run counter to the season, and the medicine will remove the disease.
