問曰：脈有陰陽者，何謂也？荅曰：凡脈大、浮、數、動、滑，此名陽也；脈沉、濇、弱、弦、微，此名陰也。凡陰病見陽脈者生，陽病見陰脈者死。
Translation
Question: The pulse has yin and yang—what does this mean? Answer: Generally, pulses that are large, floating, rapid, stirring, and slippery are called yang; pulses that are deep, rough, weak, stringlike, and faint are called yin. In general, when a yin disease manifests yang pulses, the patient survives; when a yang disease manifests yin pulses, the patient dies.
