概述
The Spleen (Pi) is one of the five zang organs in Traditional Chinese Medicine, associated with Earth, governing transformation and transportation, and serving as the root of acquired constitution. It is paired with the Stomach and is central to the production of Qi and Blood.
理论要点
- The Spleen is a zang organ of the five, corresponding to Earth in the Five Phases, and is considered the 'most yin within yin', preferring dryness and disliking dampness.
- It is internally-externally paired with the Stomach, and the Foot-Taiyin Spleen channel connects to the Spleen and links to the Stomach.
- The Spleen governs transformation and transportation, moving food essence and fluids, and is the source of Qi and Blood production, thus called the 'root of acquired constitution'.
- It governs the ascending of clear Qi, sending refined nutrients upward to the Heart, Lungs, head, and eyes.
- The Spleen commands blood, keeping it within the vessels, and manifests in the flesh, limbs, mouth, lips, saliva, and is associated with thought.
常见病机
- Spleen Qi deficiency leads to weakened transformation and transportation, causing poor appetite, abdominal distension, loose stools, and fatigue.
- Spleen Yang deficiency results in cold symptoms, such as cold limbs and watery diarrhea, due to failure to warm and transform.
- Failure of the Spleen to command blood can cause bleeding disorders, such as purpura or chronic blood in stool.
- Dampness (cold-damp or heat-damp) can obstruct the Spleen, leading to heaviness, nausea, and turbid discharges, and may generate phlegm-dampness.
日常调养
- Maintain regular eating habits and avoid excessive cold or raw foods to protect Spleen Yang.
- Engage in moderate physical activity to support Spleen function and prevent dampness accumulation.
- Manage stress and avoid overthinking, as excessive thought can impair the Spleen.
