xuè xū病机

概述

Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency) is a pathological state in Traditional Chinese Medicine characterized by insufficient blood or weakened nourishing function of blood, often resulting from excessive blood loss, spleen-stomach weakness impairing generation, prolonged illness, or blood stasis preventing new blood formation.

理论要点

  • Blood is essential for nourishing the body, and its deficiency arises when production is inadequate or loss is excessive.
  • The spleen and stomach are the source of blood generation; weakness in these organs leads to insufficient blood production.
  • The heart governs blood and the liver stores blood, so Blood Deficiency commonly manifests as Heart Blood Deficiency and Liver Blood Deficiency.
  • Blood deficiency fails to nourish the heart, causing mental restlessness, insomnia, and dream-disturbed sleep.
  • Blood deficiency fails to ascend to the head and eyes, leading to dizziness and blurred vision, and fails to nourish the sinews and vessels, causing limb numbness.

常见病机

  • Insufficient blood fails to nourish the face, lips, nails, and tongue, presenting as pale or sallow complexion, pale lips and nails, and a pale tongue.
  • Blood deficiency fails to nourish the heart and spirit, resulting in palpitations, insomnia, and poor memory.
  • Blood deficiency fails to nourish the sinews and vessels, causing numbness of the hands and feet, and in women, scanty, pale menstrual flow or amenorrhea.
  • The pulse is thin (xi) due to insufficient blood in the vessels.

日常调养

  • Maintain a balanced diet with nourishing foods that support blood production, such as dark leafy greens, legumes, and lean meats.
  • Ensure adequate rest and avoid overexertion to preserve blood and Qi.
  • Manage stress and emotional well-being, as emotional strain can affect the heart and liver, which are closely related to blood.
