zào xié病因
概述
Dryness (Zao Xie) is a pathogenic factor in Traditional Chinese Medicine associated with autumn, characterized by dryness and desiccation that damages body fluids and the lungs. It manifests as external dryness from climatic conditions and internal dryness from fluid depletion.
理論要點
- Dryness is the dominant qi of autumn, divided into warm dryness (early autumn,偏向 heat) and cool dryness (late autumn,偏向 cold).
- External dryness arises from contracting dryness evil, while internal dryness results from depletion of fluids and essence.
- Dryness is dry and astringent in nature, easily damaging body fluids, leading to symptoms like dry mouth, nose, throat, dry and cracked skin, dull hair, thirst, scanty urine, and constipation.
- Dryness tends to injure the lungs, which are delicate organs that prefer moisture and dislike dryness; lung invasion causes dry cough with scant sputum, sticky phlegm difficult to expel, or blood-streaked sputum and chest pain.
常見病機
- Dryness depletes yin and fluids, disrupting the normal moistening functions of the body.
- Lung dryness impairs the dispersing and descending functions, leading to respiratory symptoms.
- Internal dryness from fluid loss can affect multiple organs, causing systemic signs of dehydration.
日常調養
- Maintain adequate hydration and humidify living spaces, especially in dry climates or seasons.
- Consume moistening foods such as pears, honey, and lily bulb to support fluid production.
- Avoid excessive sweating, spicy foods, and prolonged exposure to dry wind or heat.
