概述

The Eye (Mu) is the sensory organ of vision and is considered the orifice of the Liver, one of the five sense organs. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the essence of all five viscera and six bowels converges in the eye, and the Five Wheel theory assigns different parts of the eye to the five viscera.

理論要點

  • The eye is the orifice of the Liver, and Liver Qi and Blood nourish the eye to enable vision and color discrimination.
  • The essence of the five viscera and six bowels ascends to the eye, reflecting overall internal balance.
  • The Five Wheel theory maps the pupil to the Kidney, the iris to the Liver, the inner and outer canthi to the Heart, the sclera to the Lung, and the eyelids to the Spleen.
  • Adequate Liver Blood and harmonious Liver Qi ensure normal visual function.

常見病機

  • Liver Blood deficiency may cause dry eyes, blurred vision, or diminished visual acuity.
